Digital Doodles

Finding things to do during lockdown has been tricky. There are only so many times I can tidy and rearrange my room. I could download Sims and make my dream spaces, watch a thousand films or maybe complete online workouts (that I always threaten to do). Instead, I decided to revisit a skill we got taught in our first year, digital drawing.

My friends birthday was coming up; I wanted to create a personal gift. We didn't have many sessions on how to use the Adobe Softwares on our tablets. Nevertheless, I was excited to give it a go. I started getting familiar with the app, what do the tools do? I headed to YouTube to learn some extra tips and tricks. I think these steps were essential as they restored my knowledge, and I discovered other skills to ease my drawing experience. One of these tricks was how to use my fingers as shortcuts to undo and redo.

It took me around 3 hours to produce this drawing. As it was my first time, I expected it to take longer. I can see areas to improve, for instance, line thicknesses and shading. I'll continue to watch videos to enhance my shading abilities. I thoroughly enjoyed creating this digital portrait. It was rewarding using my time to develop an old skill as opposed to wasting it Netflix binging. I am pleased with the results! My friend said she loved her gift! After spending time and effort making a personal present for someone, it is gratifying to see how happy it made her. I've had several requests to make more since my work on my Instagram account. I can't wait to practice and perfect my drawings during my time off.
