Sentenced
Sentenced is an exhibition set in the New Adelphi Gallery. It focuses on the difficulties convicts face when returning to everyday life. Most ex-inmates struggle to have a 'normal life' after prison. They struggle finding work and reconnecting with loved ones. Sandstone walls and concrete flooring mimic a jail environment. The use of illusions, a prison bar maze and flashing lights create a chaotic atmosphere. The disorientated interior simulates the confusion and uncertainty of life after incarceration. The exhibition focuses on the wrongly-accused and individuals who are institutionalised.
